MacDonald Dropped From UFC Roster

Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald was dropped from the UFC roster this week – via an email. Not the best of circumstances for a fighter, MacDonald received his notice from the UFC legal department which included mention that his “services were no longer needed” and that his “contract has been terminated.” “I’m obviously very disappointed,” MacDonald said. ...

Dana White Worried About ESPN E:60 Show

ESPN’s E:60, a truly nice piece of investigative work in the middle of some really uninspiring stuff, is taking on the UFC, and more to the point, Dana White. The show, scheduled for May 12,  was filmed live at UFC 94. The plan changed and the production crew went back for more material at UFC 97. Apparently dodging...

Ever wonder what the actual rules are in an MMA bout? There are, of course different standards in different states and within different promotions, but these pretty much cover anything that might come up in an MMA contest. The refs, guys like Big John McCarthy (who’s been with the UFC since the start) are charged with...

Silva vs. St. Pierre Would Be Great Theatre

After spending the week trashing Anderson Silva’s workmanlike performance against Thales Leites last Saturday at UFC 97, Dana White is cooling off the rhetoric and starting to sound like the marketing genius he is once again. “I’m focused on Toronto now,” White said. “I want to do a big event in Toronto. And who knows?...

Ryan Bow on Ryo Chonan And MMA

I’m heading out on the road tomorrow to talk to Ryan Bow. Bow, the former world number one super welterwight in Shooto, has been around the MMA block, and he’s now concentrating on creating his own dynasty. Ryan Bow worked the corner for Ryo Chonan at UFC 97 last weekend, and you couldn’t have a better...

White So Very Wrong About Silva Fight at UFC 97

April 20, 2009
By Whitey Hudson

Dana White is doing a major disservice to Anderson Silva when he trash-talks his performances when it’s my opinion that he’s more to blame for the fan’s outrage than Silva. “Anderson Silva is the most talented fighter in the world when he lets his hands and feet and knees and elbows go and he did...

Underappreciated Genius at UFC 97

Anderson Silva Deserved Better From the Fans It may not provide the crowd with the kind of tavern-brawling thrills they desire, but Anderson Silva’s fighting style is truly a work of art in motion. Silva’s footwork, spontaneous tactical brilliance and willingness to adapt to his opponent rise above the level seen in most mixed martial...
