Keith Jardine – The Dean of Mean Done With the UFC
Yesterday was a very sad day for me. I learned that the UFC has released The Dean of Mean Keith Jardine from their organization.
Last Saturday, Keith was a part of the co-main event on The Ultimate Fighter finale with TUF alum Matt Hamill.
I felt the fight was very controversial due to a point deduction by referee Herb Dean and how the judges awarded a majority decision to Matt Hamill in a fight I felt he lost.
Coming into that fight, Keith was riding a three-fight losing streak to top contenders Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Thiago Silva, and Ryan Bader. Before that, he had two losses to Wanderlei Silva and Houston Alexander while at the same time posting three wins over Chuck Liddell, Brandon Vera and Forrest Griffin.
His most recent “loss” to Matt Hamill was his fourth in a row and final fight in the UFC.
When you go on a losing streak like that, the UFC will most likely release you. Unless you are someone like Randy Couture, Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz or Wanderlei Silva.
Keith’s fight record now stands at 15-8-1 and he will be looking to get back into fighting as soon as possible. My bet is that he will either end up fighting in Bellator or Strikeforce.
Either way, I hope he gets some wins under his belt and comes back strong.
