Roger Huerta – From Superstar To A Man Without a Deal

Quoteworthy
“We had a conversation about Roger Huerta (currently under contract with Bellator) fighting for us, but the terms and conditions weren’t something that was attractive to us, so we passed. But we’ve had some good conversations with Bellator and the door’s open for anybody.”
This little gem was pointed out by Fightlinker and it highlights the precipitous fall of Huerta.
While Ryan Harkness speculates that this may be in part of Bellator looking to unload a part of their financial obligations (Huerta was rumored to receive a $250,000 signing bonus) it might also be a sincere attempt to build “El Matador” back up. A fight with Josh Thomson would certainly help Huerta’s stock but as Strikeforce said, “thanks, but no thanks” it appears that Bellator might be in a box.
WKR still believes the best fight Bellator could make for Huerta is a fight with Jorge Masvidal. It would take some work, as Jorge and Bellator aren’t best buds but it could be a strong first step in rebooting the Huerta brand.
