Kim Couture Leads Payroll for Strikeforce Challengers Event
Even in a loss, your name means a better bottom line, particularly when your name is Couture.
Kim Couture earned an event-high $10,000 at Strikeforce: Challengers on Friday at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.
Couture, the ex-wife of Randy Couture, was stopped by punches in the co-headliner by Kerry Vera, the wife of UFC fighter Brandon Vera. The fight came six days after Randy Couture fought Brandon Vera at UFC 105, and to give you an idea how different the two world’s are, the bonuses for UFC 105 came to $40,000 each.
Vera, whose name is equally well-known to MMA fans, earned $4,000 to show and another $4,000 for her victory.
In the main event, Tyrone Woodley earned $3,500 to show and another $3,500 as a win bonus, while Rudy Bears won $2,500. Woodley submitted Bears with a triangle choke at 2:52 of the first round.
Couture was issued a 60-day suspension following the fight.
The four were the only salaries made available by the Kansas athletic commission.
