Forrest Griffin is tough, busy and will stand toe-to-toe with anyone. He’s got enough heart for any three fighters.
Sometimes it costs him (as it did against the impossibly talented Anderson Silva) and sometimes it pulls the iron out of the fire when he needs it most - witness his clear third-round, fight-clinching performance against the whiny and cardio-challenged Tito Ortiz at UFC 106 on Saturday.
Griffin does something you never hear from a fighter – he actually talks about his inner demons and his mental process beyond the typical ‘I’m going to break his face’ talk. It makes him seem like one of us and keeps him interesting as a man and a combatant.
