Modafferi Steps In To Replace Toughill At Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers
Marloes Coenen now has an opponent for her November 7 bout at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers.
And the fight will be a blast from the past for both competitors.
Roxanne Modafferi has stepped in to replace Erin Toughill in the women’s fight for a shot at 145-pound champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos.
Modafferi will make her debut for Strikeforce on short notice to fight Coenen after Toughill backed out of the fight with an undisclosed medical condition forced her out of the fight.
Modafferi, an experienced fighter who spent most of her time competing in Japan, brings a tough has faced some of the best competition the women’s division has to offer.
As previously stated, Modafferi (13-4) and Coenen (16-3) have faced each other in the past. The two squared off at K-Grace 1 in 2007 with Modafferi getting a split decision victory.
Strikeforce will make the promotion’s CBS debut on November 7 with a card featuring the world’s consensus number one heavyweight MMA fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, taking on Brett Rogers.
