Josh Koscheck and Anthony Johnson Set For UFC 106
UFC welterweight contenders Josh Koscheck and Anthony Johnson are signed to face each other as the co-main event combatants at UFC 106 on November 21 in Las Vegas.
Koscheck’s Twitter page included posts saying he’d be co-headlining the pay-per-view event and Johnson agreed to take the fight on short notice.
Koscheck (13-4) recently overcame a loss to Paulo Thiago with a first-round knockout of Frank Trigg in September.
Johnson (8-2) missed weight by six pounds (and essentially blew twenty percent of his pay and lost a sure $60,000 Knockout of the Night bonus) at UFC 104. It was some consolation that he won his third-straight fight in the UFC with a 41-second knockout of Yoshiyuki Yoshida.
UFC 106 is now headlined by Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin after Brock Lesnar withdrew from his first unified title defense against Shane Carwin on Monday due to an extended illness.
The Lesnar vs. Carwin fight was postponed to UFC 108 on January 2, 2010.
