Semtex Daley Still Not Signed to Any Promotion, UFC Deal on Hold
British welterweight Paul “Semtex” Daley is still looking for a place to fight, but a deal with the UFC has not yet been finalized.
“These reports are premature, we have signed nothing,” Daley’s manager said. “We’re in talks with groups, one of whom includes the UFC.”
Daley (21-8-2) was out in the cold as his next fight was to take place on August 1 at Affliction:Trilogy against Xtreme Couture fighter Jay Hieron.
“I put a lot of effort into this camp, training and financially,” Daley said. “It’s left me screwed.”
A former Cage Rage champion, Daley wanted to take on Nick Diaz on the August 15 Strikeforce card featuring Gina Carano and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, but Hieron has moved quickly to lock down that fight.
Daley was but one of a group of fighters left without bouts when Affliction folded the tent. Some fighters signed to Affliction have already been snapped up as a part of a deal with the UFC and Affliction.
