Medical Suspensions Following WEC 42

An even dozen of the fighters who saw action at WEC 42 in Las Vegas have been issued standard medical suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Bowles broke his left hand during his fight with Miguel Torres and must have the injury cleared by a doctor before he can return to the cage some time in early February.

Torres is suspended until October 9. The suspensions are SOP for any fighter knocked out in competition.

Danny Castillo and L.C. Davis were also issued suspensions which could run into February. Both fighters can be cleared by a doctor to return to action sooner.

The full list of WEC 42 medical suspensions and injuries:

  • Brian Bowles: Left hand must be cleared by an orthopedic doctor or suspended until February 6.
  • Miguel Torres: Suspended until October 9 with no contact until September 24.
  • Danny Castillo: Left hand must be x-rayed and cleared and left knee must be cleared by an orthopedic doctor or suspended until February 6.
  • Ricardo Lamas: Suspended until September 9 with no contact until August 31.
  • Leonard Garcia: Suspended until September 9 with no contact until August 31 for left infra-orbital laceration.
  • Cole Province: Suspended until August 31 with no contact until August 24 for lacerations on nose.
  • Shane Roller: Suspended until August 31 with no contact until August 24 for left upper-eyelid laceration.
  • Marcus Hicks: Suspended until September 9 with no contact until August 31.
  • Phil Cardella: Suspended until August 31 with no contact until August 24 for lacerations on nose.
  • Diego Nunes: Suspended until October 9 with no contact until September 24.
  • Rafael Dias: Suspended until August 31 with no contact until August 24 for lacerations on nose.
  • L.C. Davis: Must be cleared by ophthalmologist or suspended until February 6. Minimum suspension until August 31 with no contact until August 24.
