Upcoming MMA Events for July 2009

M-1 Global Challenge Korea Leads Off July

Shane Del Rosario vs. Maksim Grishin  could serve to up the ante in a heavyweight division poised for upheaval. With Brett Rogers, Brock Lesnar, Shane Carwin, Cain Velasquez, and Junior dos Santos thumping veterans like Fabricio Werdum, Andrei Arlovski, and Tim Sylvia – and a Fedor Emelianenko Josh Barnett fight set for August – the division rankings could reshuffle in a heartbeat during July and August.

Shane Del Rosario wants to be in the mix.

At 6-0, Del Rosario keeps winning in major promotions (EliteXC and M-1) and by pushing his record to 7-0 on July 4, Del Rosario is sure to move another step closer in his quest to become a legitimate title contender.

Favored over Grishin, Del Rosario is hardly a lock.  Grishin ranks as one of the best prospects coming along from Team Imperial. A Grishin win would almost certainly earn the Russian a roster spot on M-1 Challenge for the coming year.
