Fighter Profile – Rich “Ace” Franklin
Rich “Ace” Franklin is fully prepared for what he knows will be a tough test against Wanderlei Silva at UFC 99 this weekend from Lanxness, Germany.
Franklin, a battle-hardened UFC veteran, knows the ropes when it comes to getting in mental shape for a big fight.
“It’s just another fight. I try not to put a lot of weight on fights in particular like that, like a must-win situation and all that kind of stuff. I just prep for this fight the same way I prep for any other fight,” Franklin said. “And as far as Wanderlei goes, as an opponent, I mean this is a great opportunity for me to fight another great fighter.”
Franklin said his training is on track and he’s ready to get the show on the road. He believes his preparations are at an end and now comes the hardest part – the wait to enter the Octagon.
“But that’s going real well. I feel great for this fight. I’m at the point where I’m just – I’m done training and I’m ready to – I’m ready to fight,” he said. “I want to get this one over with.”
Franklin is coming off a tough split decision loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 93 in Dublin, Ireland, so he’s no stranger to the rigors of fighting overseas and dealing with the travel involved.
