Dana White sure can come out with both guns blazing, and in this preview of ESPN’s E:60, telecast tonight on ESPN at 7PM ET, he slams Tito Ortiz.

If you cross him, he’ll hold a serious grudge.

Even though he and Ortiz are probably as responsible as anyone for the rise to prominence of the world’s most high-profile fighting championship series, they sure don’t seem to like each other now.

The war of words between Ortiz and White goes back to 2003, when the UFC wanted to put together the first Ortiz vs. Liddell fight.  Ortiz said he didn’t want to take the fight because of his friendship with Liddell, but Chuck said there was no agreement with Ortiz on that issue and sided with White.

Ortiz’s contract expired and the communications breakdown came a the point where Lorenzo Fertitta,  ZUFFA and UFC owner, and not White, tried to negotiate a new deal. It didn’t happen, and Tito was left out in the cold.

“They told me I wasn’t worth as much as I was in the past,” Ortiz said.

You almost wonder if some of that is Big-Time Wrestling style hype, but they both have huge egos, so it may be the real deal. Money can make strange bedfellows, and it can cause some major rifts in any relationship.

“You think that’s going to be a big positive story on Dana White? But I don’t care. It is what it is,” White told Cage Writer.

I think for White, any publicity is good publicity, and so far that course of action has worked like a dream.
